Conference organisers have released a second list of guest speakers for Ecosocialism 2026, including a First Nations leader, a Greens MP and activists from the United States, Malaysia, Brazil, Western Sahara and Australia.
Bringing together local and international activists to discuss pathways for overcoming capitalism, Ecosocialism 2026: Resistance, Decolonisation, Liberation will take place September 11–13 at the Albion Peace Centre in Magan-djin/Brisbane.
Among the newly announced speakers is: Aunty Sue Coleman-Haseldine, a senior Googatha elder from Ceduna in South Australia. She is President of the Australia Nuclear Free Alliance.
Ella Teevan, a member of the National Political Committee of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Teevan is a library worker and public sector union member.
Kirisna Veni Singham, a Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) activist and a Committee Member of the PSM’s Socialist Youth. Singham is involved in youth and community organising.
Kamal Fadel, an advocate for Western Sahara’s independence. Fadel is the chief representative of the Polisario Front — the liberation movement for Western Sahara — to Australia and New Zealand.
Abigail Boyd, a Greens MP in the NSW Legislative Council. Since being elected, Boyd has continued to campaign for an economy that puts people before profit.
Janet Parker, a long-time international solidarity and refugee rights campaigner. Parker is a founding member of Jews for Palestine WA and the Socialist Alliance.
Rachel Evans, a Gadigal/Sydney Socialist Alliance organiser and long-term LGBTIQA+ rights campaigner. Evans is a coordinator of the National Housing Justice Campaign and is active in City of Sydney for Palestine.
A leader from the Socialist Left Movement, a revolutionary socialist current within Brazil’s largest radical left party, the Freedom and Socialist Party (PSOL), will also attend.
They join Brazilian ecosocialist Sabrina Fernandes, Climate & Capitalism editor Ian Angus, Cuba solidarity activist and academic Helen Yaffe, and Justice for Palestine Magan-djin activist Remah Naji.
Also confirmed from the Asia region are: Ayesha Ahmad (People’s Rights Party, Pakistan), N Sai Balaji (Communist Party of India Marxist-Leninist Liberation), Khyl Ramos (Party of the Labouring Masses, the Philippines), and Rocky and Yong Feng (Singapore).
