Whether you want to help run your local hubs social channels, create awesome content about local actions or help out the national media + comms team, this entry-level training is the perfect place to start!
Social media is one of our most effective tools for reaching our core base, getting our message out quickly, and growing our collective power. With 26% of Australians getting their news from social media, the content we create plays a crucial role in shaping the conversation and sharing what’s really happening in the climate movement.

What You’ll Learn:
- Why Social Media Matters: How online storytelling builds trust, connection, and real-world action.
- Platform Basics: Overview of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Bluesky, and X.
- Rising Tide Content & Style: How to apply our brand, colours, and tone to make content that stands out.
- Creating Content: What makes good content, from eye-catching visuals to compelling captions.
- Tools: Tools of the trade that we use to create.
- Events: How to create and promote events on social media
Who Is This For?
This workshop is entry-level and open to everyone across all local hubs nationwide!
We are especially looking for people who have skills—or a strong willingness to learn—in:
- Writing & Storytelling (Captions, short texts, messaging, blog posts)
- Graphic Design (Infographics, graphics, templates)
- Content Capture (Taking photos/videos at actions & events)
- Video Editing (Short-form Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
No prior experience required—just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved!
