When

Why

Australia’s live performance industry is in crisis.

Following the cancellation of major productions including Back to the Future, Dear Evan Hansen, Annie, Waitress and Beetlejuice, hundreds of arts workers are facing uncertainty and potential unemployment.

Last week, more than 80 elected Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) leaders and workplace delegates—including actors, dancers, musicians, technical crew, ushers and ticketing staff—met to discuss the challenges facing our industry and how we can respond together.

  • Monday, 13 July
  • 3pm AEST (Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Hobart)
  • 2:30pm ACST (Adelaide, Broken Hill, Darwin)
  • 1pm AWST (Perth)

All live theatre creative workers including musicians, crew and technicians and performers are invited to join us as we seek endorsement of a Live Performance Action Plan which may include:

  • lobbying for an immediate response to the crisis
  • public-focused campaigning to outline the direct impact on workers and audiences
  • cross industry consultations to plan a long-term response to keep live performance viable, and
  • further actions showing that creative workers are united in our demands.

RSVP now and stand with your fellow creative workers.
