Trans Queer Solidarity and Trans Action network organised a “noise demonstration” on July 4 in opposition to the anti-trans group Street Action Victoria’s rally.

The pro-trans action, which attracted a few hundred people, took place outside the Victorian Parliament, with music, chanting, dance and impromptu speeches.

Speakers at the counter-rally addressed the misogynistic, white supremacist and anti-migrant politics of Street Action Victoria, after which they marched to join a protest calling for Pine Gap to be closed down at Defence Plaza.

Queer Liberation Boorloo also called a rally in Boorloo/Perth, on July 4, in response to a gathering by a far-right transphobic group.
