Our demands:
- Albanese stop exporting F-35 parts used by Israel
- U.S. bases out - close Pine Gap spy base
- Arms embargo and sanction Israel now
- Stop bombing Gaza - hands off Lebanon
After more than 12 months of genocide and nothing but crocodile tears from our government, it’s increasingly clear that Albanese is not going to take action against Israel until we force him to. The Albanese government continues to stand with Israel’s genocide by refusing to condemn breaches of international law or to impose sanctions to demand Israel ends its occupation and the killings in Gaza and Lebanon.
It is still allowing the export of parts for the F-35 fighter jets Israel is using to bomb Gaza and Lebanon, and is almost certainly allowing the Pine Gap spy base near Alice Springs to send military intelligence to Israel.
The recent escalation of repression against the Palestine movement demands a response. NSW police arrested two students from Western Sydney University who were part of a demonstration protesting the university’s complicity in genocide. NSW Premier Chris Minns has called for new police powers to stop the weekly rallies for Gaza. We need to unite and fight!
The Department of Defence has confirmed Australia also provided support for the US strikes on underground bunkers used by Yemen’s Houthi rebels “through access and overflight for US aircraft in northern Australia”. This attack was a direct warning to Iran, which is still bracing for an Israeli retaliatory attack that could trigger a regional war.
Weapons and support from the Australian, US and other Western governments are allowing Israel to continue the genocide in Gaza.
Global pressure, sanctions and an end to the supplies of arms can force Israel to end its war.
