Imperialism, The Americas; Trump’s agenda for global capitalism
Speaker: Dr Jeremy Smith - Associate Professor, Sociology and Research Advisor, Federation University
In the Americas, the US has become the dominant imperialist country, more aggressive than any since World War 2. The signs were there in Trump’s first term but his second has plunged the world into yet another frighteningly destructive West Asian war. Smith will look at changes in the Western Hemisphere as symptoms of the larger Trump agenda.

Workshop 2 – Confronting the Far Right and building working class consciousness (open to everyone)
Speakers: Sue Bull & Jacob Andrewartha
This workshop discusses how the rise of the far right is helping to polarise working class consciousness, causing demoralisation and escalating bigotry and why rebuilding working class self-organisation is the key to not only confronting the far-right but building the struggle for socialism.
