Why
Larrakia Country is special. From catching dinner in the harbour to watching manta rays at Lee Point, Darwin offers gifts that few capital cities can match. But those gifts are under threat.
Join us for the launch of Fund Our Futures, Not Middle Arm, a groundbreaking report that asks Larrakia people what they would spend $1.9b on instead of expanding a toxic polluting gas hub.
The evening will feature:
- Poetry & Presentation: Laniyuk will unpack the research findings, the vision for a Larrakia-owned eco-sanctuary at Lee Point and regenerative economies built around healing, language, arts, culture, eco-tourism and renewable energy followed by a short poetry performance.
- Community & Connection: Light nibbles, drinks, and conversation.
- Support the Cause: Copies of the report and campaign t-shirts will be available for purchase. Proceeds support ongoing resistance efforts.
We have a decision to make: Do we continue down the path of extraction, or do we choose prosperity and healing? Come find out how we can build a Darwin where people and Country are prioritised over profit.
Details:
- Date: Tuesday 1 September
- Time: Doors open and nibbles from 5.30pm, for a 6.00pm kick-off
- Location: Darwin Community Arts Centre, 1 Travers St, Coconut Grove NT 0810
