When
Why
Unfortunately, our vigil is being postponed due to wet weather, and we are instead holding commemorative action throughout the week by organising a digital board for people to leave messages for victim-survivors and people impacted. This will be done via Padlet and advertised through our social media. There will also be a space in the USyd Women’s room to leave messages and flowers throughout the week for all to visit.

USyd SRC Wom*n's Collective International Women's Day Virtual Vigil and Memorial Page
In lieu of our planned in-person vigil for victims of sexual and gendered violence on Monday 9 March 2026, the USyd SRC Wom*n's Collective (WoCo) has put this Padlet together to create a space for those in and around our community to pay their respects and send messages of support for this International Women's Day. Please be respectful and also cognisant that some content may be triggering for some people. This is a safe space to pay homage and come together as a community, but not the best place for disclosures. If you need support, please see the pinned post below for more information.

Join WoCo for an International Women’s Day vigil, and stand with victim-survivors of gendered violence and femicide. In 2025 alone, 78 acts of femicide were recorded across the country. Furthermore, every Welcome Week, one in eight of all sexual assaults are perpetrated. Bring candles and flowers, and spend this occasion to show our support to survivors, everyone who has been impacted by gendered violence, and all who we have lost.
