Outrage at the Zionist Israeli state’s Palestinian genocide has been huge in the Spanish State, reaching the point where the trade union movement called general stoppages for Gaza, on October 15.
Stop works ranged from 24 hours (anarcho-syndicalist General Labour Confederation) to two hours (the all-Spanish General Workers Union and Workers Commissions), with the various Basque, Catalan and Galician trade union organisations proposing stoppage times between these poles.
Despite being called after the announcement of United States President Donald Trump’s “peace” plan, there were huge turnouts, especially in Euskadi, Navarra, Catalonia, Galicia, the Valencian Country and Madrid.
A feature of the day’s marches was the presence of slogans comparing the plight of the Palestinian and Ukrainian peoples (as here, in the Barcelona march: the banner reads ”From Ukraine to Palestine, Occupation is a Crime”).
