Wollongong students support Vestas workers

August 12 was an international day of solidarity with sacked workers at the Vestas wind turbine plant on the Isle of Wight, Britain. Vestas is determined to close the plant, despite high profits.

The workers are campaigning for the British government to nationalise the plant and save 600 green jobs provided by the plant. An 18-day-long occupation of the factory ended on August 6, but the workers and their supporters have pledged to continue the campaign.

On August 12, the Wollongong Undergraduate Students' Association sent solidarity greetings to the occupying workers along with a $100 donation.
