The competition will take place in the Chai Tent.

See What We Do for more information on Amnesty's work.

The Townsville Amnesty Action group is also seeking justice for people wrongfully convicted, jailed, and later found innocent but never compensated. Several North Queenslanders are seeking compensation and apologies for imprisonment caused by miscarriages of justice. They include Terry Irving - a First Nations man from Townsville - wrongfully convicted of armed robbery, jailed in 1993, and freed by the High Court in 1997.

We want the Queensland government to set up a Criminal Case Review Commission and to provide a statutory right to compensation for those wrongfully convicted.

Prizes:

  • Winner $150 + closing ceremony performance
  • Runner up $50
