Green Left has produced this scorecard to indicate where a selection of parties stand on the matters important to us and our readers.

While many groups have produced scorecards, often their lens is framed by the two major parties and they ignore smaller progressive parties on the basis of their “electability”.

When more people than ever are dissatisfied with the major parties and are seeking a progressive alternative, GL’s scorecard can help explain where some of these parties stand on key issues.

A scorecard won’t substitute for doing your own research, however, and GL recommends that voters visit the minor parties’ websites and scrutinise their policies. For full disclosure, we did leave off some small progressive parties, because there was not enough policy information to include them.

This election, make the most of your vote to demand action on climate, public housing and an end to the genocide in Gaza.

Use your preferences and put socialists, Greens and progressive independents ahead of Labor, then Liberals, and the far-right parties last.

But more than that, if you want real change, you need to get active. Check out our events calendar to find upcoming rallies, movie screenings and discussion forums near you.
