Why

The relevance of BRICS has drawn growing interest as discussions around de-dollarization and multipolarity have picked up. The growing influence of the bloc and the widespread interest in joining the same has many on the political Left wondering if the grouping could eventually challenge American imperialism.

Many of the participants in the bloc are ruled by reactionary, authoritarian, even fascist regimes, lacking any serious initiative in challenging the global framework of capitalism. Should socialist and progressive forces in these countries abandon any expectation from the project? Or is there a possibility of greater coordination between the working classes in these countries?

Perspectives: A Researchers’ Network invites you to a conversation with Vijay Prashad, executive-director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, as we explore these questions.
