Why
Regroup in John E Brown Park in the Adelaide Park Lands. (Entrance is near the intersection of Park Tce and Port Rd).
Join the Gum Leaf Guild (GLG) in this very special place ironically named after the tree protector, John Ednie Brown who was South Australia’s first Conservator of Forests.
Join with us on this special day, significant, not so much because it is a public holiday but because it is also World Habitat Day.
After a huge few days, today we needed a rest. Tomorrow (Monday), we come back together.
From 10am–1pm Monday, we’ll gather beneath the trees that still stand at John E Brown Park — not only to reflect on what has happened, but to honour this beautiful place and restore ourselves for what comes next.
Bring chalk. Bring ribbons. Bring something to sit on. Being a picnic. Bring your stories, your creativity, your kids, your friends or simply bring yourself.
There is still so much worth protecting.
Our attention now also needs to turn to Murlawirrapurka (Park 14 / Rymill Park), Ityamai-itpina (Park 15 / King Rodney Park) and Pakapakanthi (Park 16 / Victoria Park), and the campaign to protect our East Park Lands from the impacts of the proposed MotoGP circuit.
We are angry and grief stricken. Let’s gather, reconnect and keep going; lawfully, creatively and together.

Beautiful protest. Thoughtful dissent. Creative community.
