Why

Disabled people and allies are coming together this Saturday 1 August for a silent vigil to oppose the cuts the Labor government has proposed to the NDIS.

This vigil is part of a national day of action organised by Protect Our NDIS Alliance ahead of the upcoming Senate vote on the NDIS Bill scheduled for Friday 14 August 2026.

The Labor Government is proposing changes that will cut essential supports, and people with disability will die.

If the NDIS Bill passes, it will reduce access to essential supports people rely on every day, impacting independence, safety, dignity and daily life. Over 241,000 disabled people will be removed from the NDIS, and 106,000 more disabled people will be refused access, with nowhere for them to go. The government is making a political choice to cut supports for disabled people.

We have to scrap the NDIS Bill and stop these cuts!

This vigil will be held on stolen Kaurna Yarta.
