Following the horrible attack on our Jewish community at Bondi, there has been not only increased hatred toward Australia’s Islamic and Palestinian communities, but also continued erasure of Palestinian voices and viewpoints by the government and various events (including the Adelaide Festival). The Australian Government has extended their working definition of ‘antisemitism’ to include any and all criticism of the actions of the Israeli government and military, and is moving to restrict peaceful protest against the mass murder of the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
We will never condone violence against the Jewish population, or against any racial, ethnic, or religious group in this country. But being against political/government violence is NOT antisemitism. Anti-genocide is NOT antisemitism. Anti-Zionism is NOT antisemitism.
Stand with us against the erasure and silencing of Palestinian voices. Stand with us against the ongoing slaughter of innocent people in Gaza and the West Bank. Stand with us for peace and justice.
Women in Black is a peaceful, female-led organization with feminist values. No sexist, misogynistic, racist, antisemitic, anti-Islamic, anti-Palestinian, or otherwise hateful material or rhetoric will be permitted at our events. We meet on Kaurna land.
