The queer community organised a number of events for Pride Month in November, including the annual Pride Parade, on November 29, through the streets of Northbridge.

Queer Liberation Boorloo, together with Friends of Palestine Western Australia, organised a Queers for Palestine contingent of 50 queers and a handful of allies held up signs and banners supporting a free Palestine.

Two participants arrived sporting a costume critical of corporate criminals Woodside, which remain sponsors of Pride WA, despite promising to not to continue their sponsorship after 2024.

The Renters and Housing Union contingent held up a exclaiming “Trans Justice is Housing Justice” banner.

After last year’s controversies about some signs being banned, Pride WA updated its terms and conditions to allow “systemic critiques of the police” and allusions to “historic tensions”.

However, it warned participants to be respectful. Nonetheless the acronym “ACAB”, which stands for “All Cops are Bastards” was spotted on placards throughout the parade. Organisers did not object, suggesting a new relaxed attitude about criticising the behaviour of police.
