The Burmese community “splashed” the city’s Esplanade with red during the evening of February 6. Red is the colour of the National League for Democracy, recently elected in Burma/Myanmar and now opposing a coup by the Burmese military.
A number of community representatives spoke, together with members of the Labor Party, the Greens and Socialist Alliance.
The event concluded with everyone singing one of the songs of their decades-long struggle.
