Banksia Hill Detention Centre is Western Australia's ONLY children's prison and we have heard from hundreds who have been locked up in there - the saddest and most tragic stories. Children who go to Banksia Hill are the most vulnerable children. No-one has the right to treat them with disrespect and abuse. These children are being failed.
As most already know, there is a historic class action by hundreds, children and older who have been in Banksia Hill. The day will come when their stories will be heard in court but in the meantime we have to keep on fighting for their rights and to REFORM Banksia Hill or have it SHUT DOWN. The lead lawyer in this class action has stated publicly that Banksia Hill is as bad as Don Dale at its worst.
This Wednesday at 10am we need as many supporters for reform outside of The Department of Corrective Services, Perth City. Please turn up for our most vulnerable children. These children, some who have no families and are homeless, nearly half are in the care of the State, need us there to call out the betrayal by Banksia Hill and the Government - our society should be better than this.
