A rally and march was organised on February 1 to protest the recent upsurge in deadly attacks against the Palestinian people by the Israeli apartheid state under the new right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The grave escalation in Jenin refugees camp, follows days of clashes in West Bank, Gaza Strip and Jerusalem, including at the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount,” Palestinian activist Khaled Ghannam told the rally.
“The murder of nine Palestinians in Jenin Refugee Camp in the north of the occupied West Bank last week brings the toll of those killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank since the turn of the year to 35, following on from 2022 when more Palestinians were killed than in any year since 2005.”
Gumbaynggirr Dunghutti Bundjalung woman Liz Jarrett told the rally that the Anthony Albanese Labor government had been shamefully silent about this latest atrocity by the Israeli colonial settler state. She expressed solidarity from First Nations peoples for the Palestinian freedom struggle.
