The Venezuelan national oil company PDVSA has closed deals with several European cities to deliver cheap fuel to socially deprived areas, Lenin Medina of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry told a European Left conference in Paris on March 29. The meeting drew together 30 representatives of left-wing parties and trade unions from nearly a dozen EU countries to
discuss concrete projects, reported the March 31 German JungeWelt newspaper. The next European Left Venezuela solidarity meeting will be at the end of June in Berlin. Before then the activists decided "Our goal is to provide the widest possible support for Venezuela", said Gordon Hutchison of the British Venezuela Information Centre.
