Free Iraq!

"Get us out of here now! There is nothing we can do to pacify the Iraqi people except get out of their country and allow them to restore order in whatever way THEY wish." — Excerpt from a letter from a US soldier in Iraq to his mother, posted on the Nashville Tennessean's web site, July 4.

Kill 'em one by one

"There's no question we've got a security issue in Iraq, and we're just going to have to deal with it person by person." — Emperor George Bush II, July 10.

Coward-in-chief

"George Bush goes on the television last week telling whoever's shooting at us to 'bring it on'. Easy for him when he ain't here." — Unidentified US Army NCO in Iraq, quoted in the July 12 Sydney Morning Herald.

Rewriting history I

"This nation acted to a threat from the dictator of Iraq. Now, there are some who would like to rewrite history — revisionist historians is what I like to call them." — Emperor Bush, denouncing critics of the US invasion of Iraq, June 17.

Rewriting history II

"We gave him [Saddam Hussein] a chance to allow the [UN] inspectors in and he wouldn't let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power." — Emperor Bush, July 14.
