Climate activists appeared at the Newcastle Court on January 13, charged with blockading the world’s largest coal export port during the Rising Tide “protestival” in November last year.

Seventy nine activists have been charged under draconian NSW protest laws, which include maximum penalties of a $22,000 fine and two years in prison.

The cases were adjourned.
