Why
This interactive workshop invites participants to explore 100 photographs documenting Minamata, Japan, by looking at them tobether and reflecting on the stories they tell.
RSVP: [email protected].
For over 65 years, photographers have recorded the impacts of mercury pollution caused by the Chisso Corporation, which led to Minamata disease through contaminated fish and shellfish. The images capture environmental damage and patient struggles, as well as landscapes and everyday life.
Guided by two coordinators from the Minamate Photographers' Eye (MPE) Project, participants will reflect on environmental and social harm, community history, and daily experience. The session may involve collaborative exhibition-making or dialogue-based viewing. All Welcome.
