Why
We all know the housing market is cooked - so how do we get back to housing for people, not for profit?
Renters, people on public housing waitlists, and those experiencing homelessness have been left behind by Labor's most recent budget, and it's starting to feel like the only way to buy a house is if you have parents who can lend you a helping hand.
We're in a housing crisis, and we need a crisis level response.
Come along to hear from Greens Housing & Homelessness portfolio holder Barbara Pocock, Chels Hood Withey, founder of grassroots housing justice org House You, and Trina Massey, Councillor for the Gabba Ward.
Together they'll share reflections from the frontline of the housing crisis, unpack the budget, talk through solutions to the housing crisis that put people over profit, and look ahead at how we can work together to call for real change in our housing system.
Then, we want to hear from you: after our panel there will be a chance for questions, and for you to share your experiences of the housing crisis in Brisbane.
This event is free of charge, with nibbles provided and drinks and meals available to purchase.
