Why

Local Government workers from across 8 Metropolitan Melbourne Councils are taking a historic 24-hour Strike Action for fair wages and conditions on 5 May.

From 10:00am, workers and supporters will be meeting at the Victorian Trades Hall Council. At 11:00am, workers will march to Parliament.

The 24-hour Strike Action is a necessary escalation of this campaign for fair pay and conditions.

Why are we marching on Parliament?

The State Government, led by Jacinta Allan, has continued to defend the Rate Cap Policy which has suppressed wages for over a decade. The Allan Government has also shifted responsibility for essential service delivery to Councils underfunding them to crisis levels.

That's why workers will be marching on Parliament on budget day. We welcome service users - parents and kids of ECEC services, aged care users, community members to come along and show their support too!

Council workers, who provide essential services their communities need, should be treated with dignity and respect. This can only happen if they are paid fairly.

If you are Council Worker, or you believe workers at your local Council deserve fair pay, come join us!

RSVP online with Humanitix.
