Why

We’re excited to invite you to the first launch gathering of Southern SAGE.

SAGE (South Australian Grassroots Ecosystem) began in Adelaide as 'a space for all of the passionate people, groups and communities working towards any project, goal or mission to help protect or restore the world around us'. We're a community-led network focused on care, connection, skills-sharing, and imagining healthier and more sustainable ways of living and organising together.

Southern SAGE is about getting even more local. We're imagining a space in the south where people gather to learn, share resources, provide support and build resilience at a local level. Co-creating a regular, welcoming space for people from any areas in the south of Adelaide. At our previous meetings, we've had participants from Aldinga, Christies Beach, Maslins Beach, McLaren Vale, Middleton, Moana, Port Willunga, Willunga, Yankalilla and more.

This launch event marks the beginning of a monthly, nourishing gathering. This will include shared food, skill-sharing, learning, conversation, and mutual care — shaped by the people who show up. It will be very grassroots, collaborative, and responsive to what our local communities need.

Whether you’re interested to contribute or are just curious to see what it's all about, you are welcome. There’s no expectation to contribute beyond coming along. But opportunities to help organise, volunteer, or share skills will naturally emerge for those who want to be involved.

This event is free. However we would love it if you could bring a plate, snacks or non-alcoholic drink to share.

Update

With less than two weeks until the launch gathering of Southern SAGE, we are excited to now share the theme for our February Southern SAGE launch: Diversity, Accessibility and Inclusivity.

On Sunday the 8th of February you are warmly invited for the launch of our monthly, nourishing gatherings.

This month we will share food and have an opportunity to discuss how to make Southern SAGE as diverse, accessible and inclusive as we can. There will also be a chance to get creative with the team from Toxic Surf to make sea creature lanterns. As well as these offerings, anyone is welcome to run a session on the theme, or another topic or skill of their choice.

Some (optional) things you might want to bring:

  • A plate of food, snacks or non-alcoholic drinks to share
  • Veggies, seedlings or other produce for the Produce Swap Table
