Why
Survival Day at Botany View is a powerful night of First Nations music and storytelling — honouring resilience, survival, and stories that continue to be told, passed on, and sung loud.
Hosted by Izzy n The Profit frontman Izzy, the night brings together four standout acts from across the contemporary First Nations music scene: Naya Maye, The Black Turtles, ChillCheney, and Mia Lovelock.
Tickets available from Oztix.
Headlining the night are The Black Turtles — the legendary Redfern-based three-piece led by acclaimed cultural leader Walangari Karntawarra. Blending cultural storytelling, desert rock, and raw rock ’n’ roll energy, the band will deliver the official live debut of their new single “Australia” — their first release since Stand Up in 2023. Expect new material, big feelings, and the same long-standing message: truth, connection, and change (with the volume turned up).
Also on the bill is Naya Maye, a Biripi and Gadigal singer-songwriter bringing a fresh edge to pop through honest, raw storytelling. Her intimate acoustic sound reflects the lived experiences of a queer Indigenous woman moving through music, justice, and creative expression.
ChillCheney, the evolved live project of Wiradjuri rapper Lance Cheney, hits hard with a high-impact fusion of hip hop and rock, joined by powerhouse vocalist Sahaja for a set that’s as emotionally charged as it is physical.
Rounding out the night, Blending Alt-Country, Folk, and Pop, Mia Lovelock delivers an immersive performance that fuses music and live art, celebrating culture, sustainability, and creative connection.
Set at Botany View Hotel, this Survival Day event is more than a gig.
It’s a statement — and a very good night out.
