Why
Join ICRR for an advanced screening of Beyond Invasion, and Invasion Day banner painting.
'Last Sunset' recalls the last day of freedom before colonial invasion of this continent. As Magan-djin/Meanjin/Brisbane mobilises for Invasion Day 2026, we're gathering to solidify our solidarity with Indigenous struggles for justice and self-determination.
We invite our community to join us for an evening grounded in ongoing Indigenous sovereignty and resistance. The event will include an advanced screening of Beyond Invasion, alongside banner painting for Invasion Day, a community dinner and a chance for reflections to close the event.
Film Description: Beyond Invasion is an upcoming documentary film by Article One, featuring Magan-Djin based Aboriginal activists, artists, thinkers and leaders. This film has been produced over the past 5 years and includes footage from over a dozen rallies and protest actions, including Invasion Days from 2021 through to 2025. The film explores perspectives on the significance January 26 and the impacts its celebrations have for mob. The film challenges the existance of Australia Day and presents a future that can remedy past and ongoing injustice.
About Article One: Article One is a collective of film and media creators specialising in community driven content-making – based on Yuggerah and Turrbal lands.
About Treaty Before Sports: Magan-djin based activist group Treaty Before Sports bring attention to the complicity of International and local sports in genocide and erasure, celebrating an ‘Australian’ identity and nationalistic pride whilst bypassing Indigenous Sovereignty and ignoring sovereign peoples and lands subjected to colonial tokenisation, exploitation and extraction.
