Why
Join us for the Sydney premiere of the documentary, Until the Sky Falls Quiet.
This urgent documentary follows Dr Siraj Sira and Dr Sanjay Adusumilli, two Australian doctors from Western Sydney who volunteer to go on a medical mission to Gaza in 2024. Filmed in real time with much of the footage captured by the doctors themselves, Until the Sky Falls Quiet is a rare and intimate record of bearing witness in the world's largest 'open air prison'. Through their eyes and first-hand testimonies, the documentary shows the resilience and humanity of Palestinians living and working under siege - it captures not only the loss endured, but also the courage and compassion that persist amidst devastation. Until the Sky Falls Quiet is about our humanity, about refusing to look away, even when what is seen is unbearable.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A panel comprised of humanitarian doctors and aid workers who have volunteered their time in Gaza. The speakers for this panel are Dr Siraj Sira (General Practitioner), Dr Sanjay Adusumilli (General and Colorectal Surgeon), Dr Bushra Othman (General and Colorectal Surgeon) and Khaled Shakhshir (Engineer). This panel will be moderated by Nour Haydar (Guardian Australia) and the speakers will answer audience Q&As about the realities of working in conflict zones where hospitals are bombed and supplies are scarce.
We will also have Katie Shammas from APAN talk about the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement as well as the importance of taking collective action.
