Join in the TOXIC SURF community-led movement that brings together art, science, environmental stewardship, activism, First Nations wisdom and ocean-loving communities to illuminate our interconnectedness with the natural world and inspire active hope in the face this ecological crisis.
Gather with us to share the story of the harmful algal bloom Karenia Mikimotoi and its devastating impact on the South Australian coastline and community. Through the creation of a community-made spectacle of roving oceanic lantern sculptures and performance, we invite you to join in! - as we unite for urgent action to amplify the long-standing warnings to protect and care for our waterways.
Ngarrindjeri Elder Mark Koolmatrie weaves the Dreaming story of Kondoli, the whale who brought fire, as we welcome the migrating whales on their journey from the southern waters into the Gulf. The migration becomes a symbol of hope, spectacle and new life that brings the next iteration of TOXIC SURF from the South Coast to the Mid Coast.

A powerful greeting to Spirit and Place with Mullawirra burka meyu - senior man dry forest Kaurna and Narrunga Traditional Owner Karl Telfer.
Marine Biologist Anita Thomas will bring a scientific perspective, while author and Nukunu man Dr. Jared Thomas will share cultural reflections and knowledge of Sea Country.
This event also features powerful film screenings from Surfers for Climate: Sea-Sick, and local artist Henry Jock Walker & Open Space Contemporary Arts OSCA: A Monument to Triggs Two, adding further depth to this urgent conversation.
