Why

Join us for a comprehensive training to prepare you to participate in the historical People's Blockade where we'll shut down the world's largest coal port!

There are TWO sessions on offer - come for one or both, and join us for lunch.

Session 1: 9:30am-12pm - Introduction to Non Violent Direct Action

An outline of what to expect at the People’s Blockade.

We’ll explore:

  • What civil disobedience is and why it works
  • What is non violence?
  • What are the things we worry about, and how do we avoid these situations?
  • How to de-escalate a situation

Lunch: 12-12:45 ($10 on the day, pay-what-you-can or BYO)

Session 2: 12:45pm-4pm - Preparing for the People’s Blockade

A more detailed outline of what to expect at the People’s Blockade, and how you can participate

  • Legal briefing
  • Interacting with police - know your rights!
  • OPT IN: Action and affinity group planning
