Our housing system is diabolical and heartbreaking. Housing costs have skyrocketed. Finding affordable private rentals is getting harder and harder.
And if you are on a low income, if you are a casual worker, pensioner, job-seeker, sole parent, or student, it is almost impossible. Tenants have limited rights and protections, and have to deal with short-term leases, and unreasonable landlords. Public housing stock continues to be reduced, year after year. Owning your home? Forget about it!
But it is up to us to fight for a Housing System that is different: that puts our needs, our interests, above those of investors and landlords. Join people who have been directly affected by the housing affordability crisis, and activists and advocates from across the country who are taking action, to explore how things got so cruel and rigged, and how we can fight for policies that make affordable, safe, secure housing a reality for all.
