The Canterbury-Bankstown Teachers Association passed the following motion on May 25. It will go to the New South Wales Teachers’ Federation Council meeting on June 4.

We call on the incoming Labor government to scrap the AUKUS nuclear submarine contract and instead spend the estimated $170 billion it will cost on public education (early childhood, public schools, universities and TAFE) and public health (hospitals, aged care, putting dental and mental health onto Medicare).

NSW Federation will convey this motion to: the Federal Australian Education Union, Unions NSW and the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
