Rock for Refugees draws good crowd

Issue

SYDNEY — Around 1000 people enjoyed themselves at the inaugural Rock 4 Refugees concert on the afternoon of October 27. The concert was held at Henson Park, Marrickville. Among the bands that performed were Mental As Anything (pictured), the Stiff Gins, Penelope Swayles, Urban Guerillas, MC Trey, Gas and the General, Maya Jupiter, Dog Trumpet and many more. The day was hosted by a number of well-known celebrities, including actor John Howard. All proceeds went to assist asylum seekers and the refugees' rights campaign. A number of souvenir T-shirts, designed by Reg Mombasa, are still available from Resistance centres in Sydney (see page 2). Phone (02) 9690 1977 to order one.
