Kids rally against violence

WILCANNIA — Fifteen children and young people marched through Wilcannia on October 28 as part of the town's first Reclaim the Night rally. Staff from the Women's Safehouse and the Far West Ward Aboriginal Health Service's Wilcannia Drop-in Centre worked with the young people to produce posters and banners which give an insight into the way in which family violence impacts upon their lives. Their banners demanded "Stop the hating", "Stop the drinking and fighting and look after us kids", "Be cool, not cruel", "Stop the bashings", and "No more black eyes".
