Community Radio 3CR’s annual Radiothon is coming up, with a fundraising target of $275,000 by the end of June to keep the station operating. Green Left is a proud supporter of 3CR and the Green Left Radio Show broadcasts live every Friday morning from the station’s Collingwood studios.
Since its formation in 1976, 3CR has been an invaluable source of progressive news, analysis and culture. This year's theme, “Your Station, Your Voice” speaks to the heart of 3CR as a genuine vehicle of social change.
3CR's programs champion justice and solidarity for all working-class, First Nations, queer, refugee and migrant, and differently-abled people’s struggles. In a world saturated by media controlled by the wealthy and powerful, 3CR is the people-powered radio station we need. It brings together diverse voices from the left, and unites us in a shared project that builds connection and belonging.
In the past year, Green Left Radio has covered opposition to the construction union CFMEU being put under administration, Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and developments in Syria, Peru and South Korea from a socialist perspective.
Juliet Fox, 3CR’s Projects Coordinator says: “3CR is the radio station where communities come together, support each other, build each other up, and share stories of resistance.”
The increasing violence inflicted through mass poverty, erosion of human rights, ecocide and slaughter in Palestine and Sudan means the need for truth and humanity in media has never been greater.
3CR and Green Left are vital for resistance, organising and for holding hope and reminding us of the better world we are fighting for.
