Congress on politics of cancer

SYDNEY — A major international congress examining alternative treatments for cancer will open here on Friday, April 15.

According to the organisers, Independent Medical Research, the World Congress on Cancer will, in addition to hearing numerous technical papers, "address all the issues involved in treating cancer and give the community the opportunity to gain insights into the politics of cancer which limit the information and treatment of this deadly disease".

To initiate the congress, a public meeting featuring major speakers will "take the lid off the resistance to discovering non-toxic, low-cost effective treatments of cancer". Speakers include Dr Ian Brighthope of the Australian College of Nutritional Medicine on nutritional needs in fighting cancer; Dr Ernesto Contreras, a world authority on alternative therapies; and Professors Anvi Dali and Bjorn Nordenstrom, who will also discuss new therapies the have developed.

The meeting takes place at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre, Friday April 15, 7.30pm. Tickets at the door cost $25/19.
