This protest is to raise awareness toward the 435 deaths of Indigenous Australians in police custody. We are banding together to unite in amplifying the voice of the First Nations People.
We want to prevent the death's of incarcerated Indigenous Australians in the future. We want the recommendations from the 1987 Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody implemented. This glaring injustice has gone on far too long.
The protest has been organised under the permission of First Nations Elders. Noongar Elder Uncle Ben Taylor will begin this event with a Welcome to Country. As we work together with other First Nation's mob please be patient as we continue to organize for this event.
This protest is peaceful, in order to keep all of the protesters safe. The safety of this event is of utmost importance. This includes consideration toward the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the threat has become subdued ensure that you take the measures you can in keeping yourself and others healthy. Where possible adhere to social distancing, use hand sanitizer, and the use of face masks is recommended and encouraged.
