July 19 this year marks ten years since then Labor Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced that asylum seekers arriving by boat would be sent offshore to Manus and Nauru and banned from ever settling in Australia. There are around 1200 refugees who spent time in offshore detention now in Australia who remain in limbo as a result, denied permanent visas.
