Why
Say NUP to the Melbourne Cup!
As part of nationwide actions against horse racing cruelty, join Direct Action Everywhere Tasmania and Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses to take a stand and say Nup to the Cup!
Every year, the Melbourne Cup celebrates a toxic industry built on animal exploitation.
Together, we will stand up for the horses, raise awareness, and demand an end to this cruel spectacle. Bring your passion, your voice, and your friends—let's make some noise!
The Details:
- Date: Tuesday 3rd November
- Time: 7:45 AM – 9:00 AM-ish (depending on our collective energy!)
- Location: Corner of East Tamar Highway & Brisbane St (opposite The Irish pub)
What to Bring:
- Signs: Feel free to make your own! (Some signs will also be provided on the day).
- Comfort: A drink bottle, a chair if you need it, and plenty of layers (it's still Tasmanian spring, so pack for all weather!).
- Energy: Bring a positive attitude and a few friends to help amplify the message.
Hit Going or Interested on the Facebook event to stay updated on notifications and weather announcements leading up to the morning. See you there!
For updates check the Nup to the Cup event, of the Facebook event.
Register your Nup to the Cup! event: Hosting your own Nup to the Cup! event or special inhouse promotion at your own business or place of work is a powerful and positive way to boycott the Melbourne Cup and demonstrate that you can have a good time without engaging in animal cruelty.
