Why

Why a ride to a bakery I hear you say……? Bear with me.

The Big Ride for Palestine SA was established in April 2024 as a community group that combines a love of cycling with campaigning and fundraising in support of the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

We acknowledge the initial financial support of the key unions; AMWU, the Maritime Union of Australia, the CFMEU, CEPU and the Health Services Union. Our jerseys proudly carry their logos and message of solidarity with the Palestinians.

To fulfil our Purpose and achieve our Objectives we have established relationships with the Australian Friends of Palestine (AFOPA) and the Islamic Society of SA.

The Ride on Sunday (remember daylight savings hours start) to Samoon99 Bakery is a milestone for us. Not only is Samoon99 a wonderful bakery, the proprietors a strong supporters of the Palestinian people and wanted to extend their Iraqi Islamic hospitality to us as a group. How could we refuse?

It should be a great day for a ride, a good day to make links with the Islamic community and enjoy a different kind of mid ride break.
