Why
The International Whale Celebration is a special public event marking the 40th anniversary of the global moratorium on commercial whaling.
Against the backdrop of the 70th meeting of the International Whaling Commission being held in Hobart, the event brings together marine conservationists, artists, musicians and the public to honour four decades of whale protection.
The event will highlight ongoing modern issues affecting cetaceans including; whaling, climate change, fisheries, shark nets and ship strikes.
