Why

The Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) coal mine extension proposal is currently under consideration for approval by the IPC (Independent Planning Commission). If approved, HVO will be the largest mine in NSW’s history, with 800 million tonnes of lifetime emissions.

RSVP to help us plan ahead, and to stay in touch.

Rising Tide is saying NO to HVO! Public submissions to the IPC are open until July 26th for every one of us to voice our dissent. Every submission counts: it’s time to show the IPC just how many of us reject this mine proposal.

We know a submission can be daunting, that’s why we’re hosting an IPC submission writing event.

Join the RT Gadigal (Sydney) Hub where we'll share writing and educational resources, & help each other with our submissions, with options for both written and video submissions.

And for all the crafties, we will have a craftivism table to make some banners and other art for our upcoming campaigns. No craft experience needed — we will learn, teach and share. We might even learn some protest songs together… !

Afternoon tea food and drinks provided. Any snack contributions are welcome but not essential!

Please bring yourself and a device to write your submission on. Can’t bring a device? No worries, we will have paper form options and some spare devices!

Drop in and out throughout the afternoon, we’ll be there from 12pm-4pm — stay as long as you like!

RSVP to help us plan ahead, and to stay in touch.
