Why
The largest coal mine expansion ever proposed in NSW, Hunter Valley Operations (HVO), has landed on the desk of the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) for a decision.
This massive project would dig enormous coal pits right beside the Hunter River and make climate change worse by locking in around 800 million tonnes of climate pollution. This is seven times the annual pollution of the entirety of NSW and it will drive rising costs of living and damage bills that every person in NSW will have to bear. It is your safety and your home on the line.
The IPC is holding a public hearing as part of their community consultation process on HVO so we'll gather outside alongside climate impacted communities, families and farmers to stand together to call for a safe climate and a just future for the region.
Will you join the rally out the front of the Hunter Valley Operations IPC hearing to bring attention to the costs of climate change in the Hunter?
