Katter’s Australia Party has moved a disallowance motion that would create a pathway to block Nurse Practitioners and Endorsed Midwives from prescribing MS-2 Step, a medication used for medical pregnancy terminations.
A disallowance motion is a Parliamentary process used to overturn or cancel an existing regulation or decision made by Government.
In this case, it would create a pathway to remove the ability for Nurse Practitioners and Endorsed Midwives to prescribe this medication. The motion will be debated in Queensland Parliament on Tuesday, 2 June.
This is a direct attack on women’s healthcare, particularly for women living in regional and remote Queensland. For many communities, Nurse Practitioners and Endorsed Midwives are often the only accessible healthcare providers available. Restricting access to MS-2 Step will force women to travel long distances, face delays in care and navigate even more barriers to access healthcare.
It's 2026, and politicians are still trying to control women’s bodies and limit access to healthcare.
On Tuesday 2 June, we will rally outside Queensland Parliament to send a clear message to all politicians: Hands Off Our Health Care.
