Why
Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and escalating campaign of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, are disproportionately impacting women and children.
Of the more than 72,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 2023, 80 percent are civilians. A study by OHCHR, which verified fatalities from three independent sources, found that 70 percent of the Palestinians killed in residential buildings were women and children.
The victims of Israel’s blockade of vital food are also disproportionately women and children.
In the West Bank, more than 37,000 Palestinians have been displaced amidst violent attacks by both Israeli settlers and army personnel. Again women and children bear the brunt, leaving record numbers of children unable to access school and living in crowded, unsafe housing or tents.
The Australian government shares responsibility for these crimes, allowing the export of military hardware to Israel, including F-35 fighter jet parts.
Now more than ever we need to stand in solidarity with Palestinians, especially women and children.
