Why
Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement launching major bombing attacks on the people of Gaza with the full consent of the USA. They have just committed the deadliest attack against Palestinians this year with hundreds in Gaza confirmed killed, half of them children. Entire families have been wiped out in mere seconds.
Their only goal is to kill and displace Palestinians. They never wanted a true ceasefire, and that’s why they broke it every day.
Refaat Alareer, who was martyred by Israel in December 2023, perfectly explained the concept of ceasefire to Israel: “What usually happens in occupied Palestine is that Palestinians cease, and Israel fires.”
Australia has significant responsibility in this ceasefire breach and the resulting loss of Palestinian lives. Our government continues to arm Israel with weapons manufactured in our hometowns and intelligence gathered out of Pine Gap. Australia’s commitment to two-way trade agreements upholds the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine.
We are rallying on Friday night, 6pm in King George Square to make our voices heard. We are grieving, we are angry, and we will not allow this further escalation to go unopposed. Shame on the Australian government! Shame on all those who support the genocide of the Palestinian people and ongoing occupation of their lands!
Bring your friends, family and comrades, bring your keffiyehs, and demand Australia cut all ties with the genocidal, apartheid state of Israel!
