About Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA

APHEDA is the global justice organisation of the Australian union movement, APHEDA works to support stronger union and social movements in thirteen locations in Southeast Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, and Southern Africa. APHEDA works in partnership with thirty-nine local trade unions and community organisations through thirty projects and campaigns. Financial support for these projects comes from individuals throughout Australia, the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), Australian unions and workplaces, international grants as well as from the Australian government’s overseas aid agency, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

About APHEDA's Gaza Appeal

With your support, Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA's partner organisation MA'AN Development Center will work with local organisations in Gaza to provide access to water, food, medical supplies and shelter; psychosocial support for families and individuals; and dignity and hygiene kits for displaced people.

MA’AN is part of the water sanitation, shelter and protection networks of non-government organisations in Gaza.

With your support, MA'AN works with UN and local organisations to provide:

  • Access to water, food, medical supplies and shelter
  • Psychosocial support for children and families
  • Dignity and hygiene kits for displaced people

Since 1989, Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA has been supporting development and humanitarian programs with our partner organisation, the MA’AN Development Center, a secular, national, independent organisation.

MA’AN’s office in Gaza City has been damaged, and their agriculture centre in southern Gaza has been bombed. Many staff have lost their homes. MA’AN stores of relief supplies are exhausted.

Along with other local non-government organisations, MA’AN will be in action in Gaza, as they have been in the wake of wars in 2009, 2012 and 2014.
