Why

On the 25th of July from 12pm join us on Parliament lawns to show your solidarity for refugees and asylum seekers who have been kept in Limbo on Temporary Visas for far too long.

As we should all know, the Australian Government has much to be ashamed of in their treatment and processing of refugees. Australia refuses to provide permanent visas to refugees who arrived by boat. Refugees who arrived from August 2012 are forced to reapply for protection every 3 to 5 years and prove that they still deserve to stay. This means that around 20,000 refugees are kept in a permanent state of limbo, constantly living with the fear of being deported. They are also denied the right to family reunion and study rights. Many have not seen their family members for eight years, sometimes decades. The situation is even worse for those refused refugee status under unfair “fast track” processing laws that have removed rights to appeal decisions.

Lets turn up in solidarity, to stand with refugees and their allies that are gathering on this date all across the nation to send a message to the Australian government that their continual abuse and inhumane treatment of refugees can't continue.
